CHEMICALCOMPOSITIONthe control of chemical compositionbetween the narrow limits is truly important in order to achieveshot blasts with foran optimum performance.As a consequence, it is vital to control the carbon, silica andmanganese amounts correctly, apart from reducing to theminimum the residual elements such as phosphorus and sulfur.SHOTBLASTSHARDNESSIts durability and cleaning capacity depends directly on thehardness of the shotblastts, including the weathering rate ofthe machine.The harder ones clean more quickly. However,from a certain hardness level, they present more fragility,accelerating the wearing of the cleaning equipment. Onthe other hand, the milder the shot blasts are, the moredurability they have, and produce less weathering of theequipment, but they deform more easily, absorbing aconsiderable high part of kinetic energy available for theshot blasting work.We recommend working between 42 and 48 HRChardness so as to achieve a better combination ofdurability and cleanses efficiency, due to the fact that bothproperties are inversely proportional.
